Returning to my blog after such a lengthy hiatus always leaves me feeling somewhat ashamed 🙂 Like a mother who has abandoned her offspring and is now crawling back with her tail between her legs .
I bring with me good news though! I passed my fourth year ! I am now officially a fifth year medical student ! Cue celebrations !

I have been on cloud nine for the past week since my results were released. I worked very hard during my exam period and I am so happy that all the late nights filled with Monster , Redbull and terrible coffee were worthwhile .

I spent the week leading up to results day in agony and distress. This year was an academic challenge for me . For the first time , I tried to do more than just memorize information in the hopes of passing tests. I was anxious to see whether or not my increased dedication and effort had been advantageous.

I am pleased that I put effort into understanding concepts and it had wonderful results for me. I engaged very well with my work and attended my lectures diligently. I am happy that I changed my approach because it really allowed me to appreciate the science in Medicine.
2017 : The year of being offline * (somewhat)
I have earnestly tried to decrease my social media use this year and I have been wildly successful. I have limited my social media to two sites and I can honestly say that was the best thing I could have done for my sanity.

Being on social media can so easily distract you from doing what’s really important or participating in the things that make you happy.
You become easily disillusioned by other people and their realities that you forget your own. You forget to live your own life when you’re trying to accumulate virtual accolades.

I’ve implemented a policy for myself to prevent oversharing due to boredom , an awful tendency that I used to suffer from.
The quality of my interactions have changed drastically. I like to share things about which I am passionate and excited about 🙂
Now I am on my elective and will be for the next three weeks! I am currently spending time in paediatric neurosurgery and I am loving it ! The combination of pediatrics and surgery is awesome for me ! The doctors are knowledgeable and that inspires me to be more dedicated to my work.
When my elective is finished , I will have another 6 glorious weeks of vacation. I don’t have much planned but I really hope to practice my triple R (Rest , Relax & Recuperate) method and blog regularly 🙂
Lots of Lily Love (LOLL) ❤ ❤ ❤
Everything you said about social media is so apt! I’ve been off more than usual as well and I always enjoy spending less time on apps, as fun as they can be. Congrats on passing your exams! Actually grasping concepts in med school is ALWAYS a win!!
